So I'm trying to enter the 21st century...
6 years late is better than not at all . . . right? . . . RIGHT??? Hey GUYS!!!!
So I still don't own a MP3 player or song downloading device of any sort; I still don't have my own cell phone, (we just barely got a prepaid tracphone about 6mo. ago and hardly use it) no high speed internet, no laptop, no sweet comcast package or dish or whatever (basically no good cable) etc. etc.
BUT HEY, I've got my own BLOG!!!!!!!! HA HA!!!!!! I'M VICTORIOUS!!!!!!!!!
Anyway. Woe isn't me. Life is fairly good. I've been married for over 5 years to a fantastic woman (Carrie, formerly Carrie Day hailing from Pullman, WA Home of the WAZU Cougars (Washington State University) GO COUGS!!! At least that's what they say, I've been told many a time.
We have a fabulous daughter named Leah. She's two and she's everywhere all at once! She's very excited about life. She's so happy (except when she can't have fruitsnacks, juice or Merry Poppins or her mother!) She's basically the most adorable little girl in the world.
I've tried to take up mountainbiking this summer but didn't quite succeed. Financial constraints on having a sweet bike or the money to fix up my old one hampered by a really hot summer, working 60-80 hrs. a week at times, etc. etc. sort of got in the way. Oh yeah. Also a little thing called desire. The idea of mountain biking to me is really superb; and going downhill on a mountain bike rocks, it's the finding the time and getting up the hill that's the biggest obsticale.
What else? Carrie is due with our second in Feburary. We'll know what "it" is in a few weeks. (then we can stop referring to "it" as "it" and at least by he or she. No huge frontrunner name canadates yet. We'll know more when we know when it's no longer an "it."
I am finally bringing my decade presuit of a bachelors degree to a close in the spring of 07' (assuming that this fall is the one for me to finally get the math monkey off my back. I have to pass intermediate algebera first, then stats 1040 and then I'm golden baby! Yeah!!!!) This time is it. "I'm a driver, I can win it. Things are going to change, I can feel it!" (Beck, Looser) circa 1990something.
So. I in my spare time...try to catch up on homework for math and my intro to shakespere class. Very daunting reading assignments. Not that it's shakespere, but that it's an entire play, with comprehension of its deeper meanings by the next class period. Lots of reading. Oh well. I've had tons of reading as a political science major and only expect it to get worse with Law School, so that's just the way it goes.
For my not so gainful employment while still being a student/husband/parent/religious zelot (at least sometimes, which isn't ALWAYS a good thing. Take Osama for example. Did you hear about his thing for Whitney Houston? Apparantly it sounds legit. Weird. I thought for sure that was just tabloid gossip. Now alledgedly she has a direct line in to the CIA in case he tries to contact her since she's single again. Crazy. Tell me it's just a tabloid.
What else? I drive for my not-so-gainful employment. I drive, and I drive, and I drive. It's ok for now but not my #1 choice for a career path. (although one of my bossess keeps mentioning me and transit manager in the same sentance. I have some bosses that drive BMW 5 series and Mercedies, so I guess I shouldn't burn any bridges. I just don't know that I could handle being in the bus industry for the rest of forever and say that this is my meaningful contribution to society; you know, my legacy to my posterity and mother earth and the human family, etc. Sounds pretty unfufilling. But who knows. Law school is still my much higher priority. But a distant back-up plan isn't horrible. Carrie might leave me though if I become a perminant bus nerd. She can handle it only on a temporary basis.
That's pretty much me. I'm the ward choir director for our local congregation at church. (in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints, we call them wards. It's fun.
Oh yeah. I bought a 150cc gas powered scooter to ride to and from school and work. Great gas milage and even with just 150cc's of power, it does 50mph just fine which is all i need for around town. It's helping quite a bit since we're a one car family.
